Course Title: Bumps and Beyond: A Review of Practical Gingival Pathology and Discussion of Proliferative Verrucous Leukoplakia

Course Description: In Bumps and Beyond, Dr. Ison will review pathologic entities that occur on the gingiva, with special focus on differentiating benign from malignant, identifying when to biopsy, and making the oral-systemic connection. She will also discuss diagnostic features and treatment approaches for Proliferative Verrucous Leukoplakia.

Objectives:

Review common and uncommon pathologic entities that occur on the gingiva.

Discuss treatment modalities for the reviewed lesions.

Present examples of proliferative verrucous leukoplakia, how to differentiate from common clinical mimickers, and the information needed to make a definitive diagnosis, as well as treatment options currently available.
