1 Continuing Education Hour
FEE: $50.00
AUDIENCE: D H A

Not all orofacial pain originates from the teeth. This presentation explores the common etiologic factors contributing to non-odontogenic orofacial pain, with a focus on accurate diagnosis and evidence-based management strategies. Attendees will gain insights into differentiating myofascial, neuropathic and other non-dental pain sources to improve patient outcomes through a multidisciplinary approach.

Learning Objectives:
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
1. Identify key etiologic factors contributing to orofacial pain of non-odontogenic origin.
2. Differentiate between odontogenic and non-odontogenic sources of orofacial pain using clinical assessment and diagnostic tools.
3. Recognize the role of myofascial pain, neuropathic pain and referred pain in orofacial conditions.
4. Develop a systematic approach to managing non-odontogenic orofacial pain, incorporating interprofessional collaboration and multimodal treatment strategies.
5. Apply evidence-based principles to improve patient care and reduce misdiagnosis in cases of persistent orofacial pain.
